Today we talk with Wuki.
Grammy nominated, multi talented musician, DJ, singer, and producer Wuki has been making waves in EDM for more that 10 years. Now, he’s on tour with Nitty Gritti, and he’s getting ready to release a new album with some pretty amazing features. We got the opportunity to pick his brain after his show at District in Atlanta and get silly with him in this week’s artist feature.
You tweeted that your album is 70% complete… what can fans expect from this release?
Yes!!! I’m so stoked for it, it’s gonna have a bunch of different genres (maybe even some new ones) some big features and tons of fun.
What first got you into music?
Learning how to play guitar! I started because my brother played and kept going ever since
What’s your creative process like? Any rituals before hitting the studio?
I like to work out to get the juices flowing in my head. Then I take in some inspiration online and try to go from there! It’s always different
What’s your favorite and least favorite parts about performing.
My favorite thing is trying something new and have it really connect with the audience. My least favorite is if I have to pee really bad and I can’t get off stage!
What’s your favorite song to perform?
I think it’s still Dadadada, even though people know it now they still go nuts
Who would you most like to collaborate with next?
I’m still trying to slide into Missy Elliots dms! Haha
Do you sing in the shower? What songs?
Actually I get a lot of ideas for songs in the shower, for some reason when I’m in there I get really creative haha
What’s your least and most favorite part about traveling?
The lack of sleep is easily the hardest part. Sometimes it stacks up and you just feel like complete shit.
What’s your most useless talent?
I’m really good with a nerf weapon, like I can hit any target
If you could be an animal, which animal would you be?
I think I’d be a dog so I could still be friends with humans. They have the best lives.
If you had one message to give your fans, what would it be?
I love you all and appreciate you so much more than you know. I love my life and I feel so grateful and happy everyday I get to do this. And that’s all bc of you
